January 2019 Meeting

Healthcare Associates Providing Positive Education and Networking

January 2019 Meeting

The January luncheon was held at the IHCA, and was co-sponsored by 101 Mobility and Trinity Home Care. It was catered by Panda Express, which did nothing to break my addiction to orange chicken

It was quite the balmy spring-like day for us in the Treasure Valley, but it was nothing compared to what co-membership chair Cody Freston was experiencing on a beach in Mexico, so we kicked things off by taking a massive group selfie to send to him. We’re sure he was super jealous.

After that we had a bit of business as we announced that Robin Cook would be stepping down as HAPPEN Treasurer. More on her replacement coming soon!

There weren’t many member announcements, but there were a few. Debbie from Bridgetower Chiropractic told us about a fundraiser going on for a van to help transport homeless people to work. The Idaho Caregiver Alliance let us know about the upcoming caregiver conference, and Robert from the IHCA told us about an upcoming legislative workshop.

There were a pair of bowling fundraisers announced by the Alzheimer’s Association and Angels Anonymous, and we were brought up to date about the Parkinson’s HOPE conference.

After announcements, we had our guests stand up and be introduced, then it was on to the sponsors.

Trinity Home Health and Hospice is celebrating eight years, and described their care-based services for us. 101 Mobility talked about how they provide accessibility equipment.

Our education came courtesy of Terry Smith of Senior Goldmine, who talked to us about a unique form of therapy for returning veterans. Equine therapy pairs veterans with horses to provide companionship, stability, and purpose to a segment of the community that often feels isolated and misunderstood. We watched the video “Riding My Way Back” and got an inside look at one particular story.

After the education, there were several raffle baskets to give away from our sponsors!

Thanks again to our January host, the Idaho Health Care Association, and our co-sponsors, 101 Mobility and Trinity Home Care! See you all next month!
